TIA NUNNERY

Traditionally there have not been many nunneries in Ladakh. His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa has created a small number of nunneries and has instigated a sponsorship programme to support those who choose this spiritual path. In 19— 25 nuns were ordained at the first nunnery at Yulo Woseling nunnery in Tia. At the present time there are over 200 nuns in the three nunneries in Ladakh and Nepal.

Tia nunnery in Ladhak has approximately 30 novice nuns in residence at any one time. These nuns receive a basic religious education from the resident lama.
